Mission Statement
 Frances Stokes Berry

Professor and MPA Director in the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University.

Her teaching and research areas include strategic management in the nonprofit and public sectors, program evaluation, policy and management innovation, and intergovernmental relations. Her most recent work has focused on volunteerism and community capacity building.

 Ralph S. Brower

Associate Professor in the Askew School and Director of the Center for Civic and Nonprofit Leadership.

He has extensive managerial experience in youth development and community education in several government and nonprofit agencies in Anchorage, Alaska. His recent research examines grassroots organizing, information technology in human service nonprofits, and community nonprofit capacity.

 Richard Chackerian

Professor in the Askew School and former Director of the School.

His research and teaching interests include organization development in public and nonprofit agencies and historical trends in administrative reform. His recent activities take an international focus on human rights and nongovernmental organizations and their activities in developing countries.

 Wendy P. Crook

Associate Professor and Director of the doctoral program in the School of Social Work at Florida State University.

Her research and teaching interests include social service systems, nonprofit management, homelessness, welfare reform, and domestic violence. She has extensive nonprofit managerial experience, including a long tenure as CEO of a United Cerebral Palsy agency in New Jersey.

 Janet Dilling

Director of the Florida Public Affairs Center and the Askew School’s Emergency Management Certificate Program.

Her areas of interest include organizational development and emergency management in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. She is past President of the American Society of Professional Emergency Planners, and served as the Area Director of a National Health Foundation in North Carolina.

 Fran Germany-Griggs

Project Director and Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida, Lawton and Rhea Chiles Center.

Her teaching, practice, and research interests include managing nonprofit organizations, child health policy and services, and health and human service needs of immigrant populations. She has worked extensively in both the government and nonprofit sectors.

 Mary E. Guy

Holds the Jerry Collins Eminent Scholar Chair in the Askew School.

Her research interests focus on management of public service organizations and, more specifically, on human services policies and programs. She is past president of the American Society for Public Administration and is a Fellow in the prestigious National Academy of Public Administration.

 Earle Klay

Professor and Director of the Askew School.

His recent research focuses on initiatives to strengthen civil society and on future societal trends that may challenge and shape government. His practitioner experiences include: U.S. Army officer, systems specialist in a federal agency, policy analyst for a state legislature, and senior planner in a governor’s planning and budget office.

 Fred Salancy

Assistant Vice President, Fine Arts at Florida State University.

He has more than fifteen years experience in all aspects of fundraising, including serving as Development Officer for the College of Social Sciences and ten years as the director of development for a nationally recognized nonprofit arts organization. He also was a participant in the National Endowment for the Arts, Arts Administration Fellows program.

 Lee Stepina

Professor of Management and International Business in Florida State University’s College of Business.

His research interests include information technology, human resource management, and cross cultural management issues for business, government and nonprofit organizations. He is a long-time volunteer and board member and has served as board President of Tallahassee’s Telephone Counseling and Referral Service.

 Kurt R. Moore

Director of Corporate Research and Development, FSU Office of the Vice President for Research.

He has over fifteen years experience in professional fundraising and service on non-profit boards, specializing in the development of new fundraising programs, planned giving, and corporate and foundation grantsmanship. Training as a financial planner augments his experience on nonprofit finance and investment committees, and consulting in the for-profit business sector.
